New Independent
has developed a framework and process to prepare, guide and support key senior executives as they set out to achieve a non executive appointment alongside their executive role.

A typical programme runs for six months and comprises a series of one to one sessions between the executive and New Independent. At the conclusion of the programme, the executive is ready to introduce her/himself to the key search consultants who specialise in board and non executive appointments. The executive would be thoroughly prepared for such an introduction and would be able to describe what they bring to the table in the context of an independent directorship. They would also be able to articulate where they would potentially make the strongest contribution as a non executive board member.

In all cases, the executive has permission from and is sponsored by the company where they hold an executive directorship or other senior executive position just below the board. The organisation sees the value in encouraging the development of a select few of their top executives in preparing for a non executive appointment, both in terms of broadening their experience and perspectives and also in terms of what they might bring back to their own board.
