New Independent has a singular vision – that of championing and supporting the development of the next generation of independent non executive directors.
The Combined Code called for both greater diversity on boards and for widening the pool of potential non executive directors. The UK Corporate Governance Code (June 2010) goes further and states that board appointments should be made “with due regard for the benefits of diversity on the board, including gender”. Many companies have responded by encouraging a select few of their top executives to take a non executive directorship on another board whilst continuing to deliver their executive responsibilities.
New Independent helps these senior executives prepare for and achieve such an outside appointment.
